On January 9, 2024, Veronica Pacheco (Roni) passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 86.

She was born June 14, 1937 in Fall River, Massachusetts to August and Celia Moniz. She married Manuel “Frank” Pacheco, the love of her life, on September 5, 1959. He preceded her in death in June of 1999. Married for 48 years, she spoke often about how much she missed him and couldn’t wait to be reunited with him in heaven.

Miss Roni, as she was affectionately called by those who knew her, worked most of her adult life, loving on babies as a daycare teacher. Over a span of more than 35 years, she faithfully and lovingly took care of children at both Evangel Christian and Trinity Christian schools. Most weekdays you could find Miss Roni in a rocking chair with multiple babies on her lap. The love she had for children could not be measured. One of the things that made her smile was running into babies she had cared for at a young age, that had grown into adults. Her face would beam as she would proudly announce, “I changed your diaper as a child!”

Roni’s greatest love was for her Savior and her family. She loved Jesus and wasn’t shy about telling anyone she met that she talked with Him often and God watched over her and her family.

She was known for her quick, sharp wit…and it was just one of the many reasons her friends and family adored her. You could always count on her for a smart and sassy comeback and you never had to wonder what she was thinking!

She treasured all of her family and friends and embraced every moment she spent with them. She especially loved her role as Great Gram Cracker. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have crossed paths with her.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sanders and husband, Danny Sanders, of Paragould, Arkansas; Son, Steven Pacheco and wife, Deborah Pacheco, of Lakeland; Daughter, Lori Pacheco, of Lakeland; Daughter, Lyn Pacheco, of Jacksonville, FL; adopted daughter of love, Kathy Popelka, of Lakeland; brother, Edward Moniz and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, of Titusville, FL; Grandchildren: Anthony Pacheco, Eric Clements, Christopher Sanders, Rachel Youngblood and Joseph Sanders, And finally her 6 Great Grandchildren: Chase Morris, Carson Clements, Chloe Clements, Daniel Sanders, Bella Sanders and Laken Reese Sanders.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ROAR HOME, formerly known as Noah’s Ark in Lakeland, FL or Good Shepherd Hospice of Lakeland Florida.
