Richard “Dick” Kelter, 84, passed away October 7, 2022.
Dick was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on May 2, 1938, to the late William and Bernice Kelter. He served in the Army Reserves and the National Guard for Iowa. He moved to Lakeland from Sunrise Beach, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri 19 years ago. Dick served in numerous capacities for the Sandpiper HOA, and started a walking club in the community. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he served as a Minister to the Sick, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and was a part of the Knights of Columbus Council 2505. Dick attended Lakeland Police Citizen Academy. He was a member of the Elks in Sunrise Beach. Dick was an avid reader, and was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He showed his support for his team and community by becoming a Red Coater, and helped form an honor guard for the team. He owned his own company, Progressive Sales & Marketing in Overland Park. Dick also worked and promoted Weight Watchers for over 10 years while living in Lakeland.
Dick is survived by his wife, Dianne Wultzen Kelter of Lakeland, FL; brother, Jim (Linda) Kelter of Omaha, NE; daughters, Dana Bainbridge of California, Cheri (Frank) Payne of Iowa and Lori (Dave) Head of Kansas City, MO; son, William John Bainbridge of New York; stepsons, Michael Douglas of Lakeland, FL, Mark (Leslie) Douglas of Florida, Josh Turner of Lakeland, FL, Justin (Ashlee) Turner of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Joe (Christina) Turner of Orlando, FL; stepdaughters, Katie (Johnny) Turner of Lakeland, FL and Karlie (Chris) Davis of Lakeland, FL; and 16 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted Friday, November 4th at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, FL 33809. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes.
