ISLAMABAD: The management of Express 24/7, the only English news channel of Pakistan, has shut down the news channel telling their staff that there is no revenue left to run the channel.

The staff has been sent an email in which it has written that those who were working with the channel will be given 2 months salaries however there is a chance that 50% of the staff can be adjusted in Express Urdu and Tribune.

Earlier, another English News TV had converted its medium of transmission due to very less English-oriented viewership in the country.

Meher Bokhari sacked from Samaa TV

ISLAMABAD: Famous female acnhor Meher Bokhari has been sacked from the SAMAA TV by the owner of TV channel Zafar Siddiqui, reason not yet confirmed.

According to SAMAA TV sources, Meher Bokhari has been sacked from the channel on Wednesday.

Latest episode of Newsbeat is hosted by CNBC’s Farieha Idrees on Monday.

On the other hand, sources close to top management of SAMAA TV are saying Zafar Siddiqui, owner of SAMAA TV has took notice of her program after Salman Taseer murder issue. It is also revealed that Zafar
Siddiqui, Chartered Accountant started his professional career in Salman Taseer’s firm and thus, have emotional attachment with his former boss.

There are also rumors that actually PEMRA has pressurized Samaa TV to fire her because of her program on late governor. Recently PEMRA has also fined SAMAA TV due to violation of PEMRA’s guidelines.

Mushtaq Minhas and Nusrat Javaid fired from Dunya TV

ISLAMABAD: News anchors Mushtaq Minhas and Nusrat Javaid who were running a show “Dunya Mery Agay” telecast on Dunya TV, are reported to be fired from their jobs as the programme was not doing well from the day it started.

According to a blog Pak Media Leaks the anchors were told by the administration of Dunya TV on Sunday that their services are no longer needed by the TV channel.

The blog says that the anchors are most likely to join ARY news channel.

Education minister GB gets angry for giving him chair to sit

Minister for education Gilgit Baltistan Dr. Ali Madad Sheer got angry for providing him chair and not a Sofa to sit at a ceremony held at a government boy’s high school Gakoch.

“I am not a headmaster so that you let me sit on chair, when you call a provincial minister then you should also provide him sofa to sit” he said in a very angry mood.

He said that he will never come again if school administration will not provide sofas to sit.

The education minister was heartily invited to attend a workshop organised by government high school Gakoch and funded by Canadian government.

The minister, after not finding Sofas for sitting left the workshop by warning the headmaster to make school clean and buy new furniture.

President takes notice of match fixing scandal, allegations against some Pakistani Cricket players

President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed disappointment over the media reports of match fixing scandal and allegations against some Pakistani Cricket players also involved in it in London.

Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the President who is also Patron of the Cricket Board, taking note of the reports, has directed that he should be kept posted about the developments as to what happened and what is the status of any inquiry that may have been ordered or held in London.

The Chairman PCB has been directed to immediately submit a preliminary report about the incident.

Ahmadi worship place attacked by armed men in Lahore

Armed men have attacked Ahmadi worship places in Garhi Shahu and Model Town Block C on Friday.

The gunmen have entered in worship places and according to reports hundreds worshipers were present at these places.

According to reports nine gunmen have been entrenched at Ahmadi worship place in Garhi Shahu and eight armed men are present at Model Town place.

A previously unknown group identified itself as Al-Qaeda Al-Jihad Punjab Wing has claimed responsibility of the incident.

The shootout between the gunmen and police underway as large number of worshipers said to be present at the worship places.
