ISLAMABAD: The 74th death anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed with due reverence and solemnity all-over Pakistan to pay homage to of great poet and philosopher of the East.
Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of his soul and numbers of programs were organized to highlight his teachings and his philosophy that gave an independent state to the Muslims of sub-continent.
Special programmes, seminars, speeches and debates were held to pay homage to services of Allama Muhammad Iqbal that he had rendered for the Muslim Ummah.
The newspapers published special editions and government and private TV channels aired different programmes to mark Allama Iqbal’s 74th death anniversary.
Allama Iqbal was a man of great vision and developed new ideas and manifestations for youth and stressed the need for following the principles, teachings and sayings of the great philosopher with commitment and dedication for the socio-economic and political development of Pakistan and transforming the motherland into an Islamic welfare state as envisioned by the founders of the country.
Due to his progressive thinking and teachings, the Muslims of sub-continent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah succeeded in materializing the dream of Allama Iqbal on August 14, 1947, in the form of Pakistan’s creation.
Allama Iqbal is the best known for his poetic works, including Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-e-Bekhudi and the Bang-e-Dara with its enduring patriotic song Tarana-e-Hind, Baal-e- Jibrael, Zarb-e-Kaleem and Payam-e-Mashriq are among his great books.
The great philosopher, visionary and one of the most prominent leaders of the All India Muslim League, Allama Iqbal is also famous for his 1930 address in Allahabad that encouraged creation of a “state in north-western India for Muslims.”
Allama Iqbal is thought to be a Sufi poet of modern age whose philosophy and ideology is a beacon of light for the Muslims not only in South Asia but in other parts of world as well.
Experts and scholars believe that in prevailing situation, following the philosophy and teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal in letter and spirit and rising above linguistic, ethnic, religious and sectarian differences would play a vital role in progress and prosperity of the country.
