No end to loadshedding: MD PEPCO

ISLAMABAD: The Managing Director of Pepco, Rasul Khan Mahsud has clearly stated that loadhsedding would not be ending anytime soon.
According to Mahsusd, loadhsedding cannot be eliminated under the current circumstances. He also spoke about statements made by the Water and Power Minister regarding end to loadshedding.
Speaking to the media MD PEPCO said there was an electricity shortfall due to unavailability of fuel.
Mahsud claimed that 4,000-5,000 MW could be added to the national grid if fuel was supplied.
Secretary Water and Power, Imtiaz Qazi who was also present at the news conference, said that six thermal power plants were closed due to the unavailability of fuel and if these plants were operational then 1,400 MW could be added to the national grid.
The shortfall of electricity production reached to 5500 megawatt in the country resulting in the load shedding of almost 10 hours in the urban areas and 18 hours in rural areas of the country, sources said on Monday.
The sources said that the shortfall occurred due to disputes on payments between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO). PEPCO was in debt of 26 billion to PSO.
It is very foolish that the protesting people are breaking & burning the vehicles of their own fellows and are damaging the public property …. If at all we must protest we must protest correctly.
Let’s tomorrow get hold of some minister or the MNA whom we had voted into the assembly and put his/her home on fire. We’ll need to burn only one or two of them and the problems will start getting solved.
Let’s gather some courage and do the right thing and put some minister or his home on fire. This is about punishing the real culprits rather than our own brethren who are victims just like ourselves.
