ISLAMABAD: President Zardari has issued ordinance to set up Drug Regulatory Agency of Pakistan.
According to the ordinance promulgated by the federal government, the Drug Regulatory Agency will work under secretary cabinet and will comprise of 13 members.
All health secretaries of the provinces will be the member of the DRA. The draft of the ordinance has been prepared after consultation with provinces.
Head of the agency will be chief executive officer and one technical member will be taken from federation, doctors, pharmacists and pharma industry. Agency’s head office will be in Islamabad.
Postgraduate degree and 20 years experience will be required for the post of chief executive officer and tenure will be of three year which could be extended for one year if needed.
