ISLAMAABD: The LEAD Pakistan Board of Governors has elected Adil Najam, Vice Chancellor Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), as its Chairman for 2012-2015 (three year mandate) at a meeting held on Friday in LEAD House.
Adil Najam replaced Waqar Zakaria, Managing Director Hagler Bailly Pakistan who served as LEAD Board of Governors Chairman since 2009.
The new chairman Adil Najam is a globally renowned Pakistani academic and intellectual and a leading expert on issues related to developing country environmental policy, especially climate change.
He is currently serving as Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS. Before joining LUMS he was the Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and Professor of International Relations and of Geography & Environment, both at Boston University.
The meeting was attended by Board Members including CEO LEAD Pakistan Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, Country Director, Cisco Systems, Inc Aamir Matin Chief Executive Officer, Frontier Foundry and Master Marble, Nauman Wazir and Hassan Zaidi Chief Executive Officer, Tamarind Media/Pictures.
During the meeting the Members of the Board were also given an update on the projects which LEAD Pakistan currently handles.
Moreover a new member Dr. Prof. Saleem H Ali has also joined the LEAD Board of Governors. Dr. Ali is a Pakistani American scholar who is Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Natural Resources, and the director of the Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security.
He is known for his work on environmental conflict resolution, particularly in the extractive industries and was profiled in Forbes magazine in September, 2009 as “The Alchemist.” In March 2011, he was also selected by the World Economic Forum as a “Young Global Leader.”
