ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan People’s Party leader and veteran lawyer Barriister Aitzaz Ahsan will represent Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in contempt of court proceeding, sources said on Tuesday.

The sources said Ahsan would appear with the prime minister in the Supreme Court of Jan 19.

The apex court on Monday issued show-cause notice to the premier in contempt of court for not implementing the NRO verdict.

The prime minister after consultation with President Asif Ali Zardari and coalition partners, including The ANP, MQM and PML-Q, announced in the National Assembly that he would appeared before the court as he respected the court orders.

Aitzaz Ahsan called on the Prime Minister Tuesday evening for consultation over contempt of court issue.
