PM defends statement bout army, ISI chiefs

Vehari: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday reiterated that his statement on the Army chief and Director General, ISI rejoinders in the apex court row was not a blame game.

“I would not take back my statement about army and ISI chief’s rejoinders to Supreme Court of Pakistan in ‘memogate’ scandal case” Gilani said while talking to media here at Vehari.

Gilani had said affidavits submitted to the apex court by Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha on secret memo were `unconstitutional and illegal’ because “they were submitted without seeking approval of the competent authority under the rules of business

The Prime Minster said that the Presidency has denied speculations published in foreigner news agency.

He said all institutions are working within their limits insisting that the Parliament is sovereign institute.

Gilani said that he was an elected Prime Minister and he never said that he will serve as Premier for five years but suggested that the Parliament would complete its tenure.

The prime minister said he was only answerable before the Parliament and would not explain to any individual.
