LONDON: The spiritual leader of the Hur Jamaat and Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) Chief Pir Pagara died on Wednesday at a private hospital in London.
Pagara, 83 was taken to a hospital in London for treatment after suffering from an infection following his surgery in Karachi a few days ago.
He was flown there by air ambulance with a critical medical condition where six teams of doctors tried their best to save his life but Pagara breathed his last on Wednesday at London’s Lincoln Hospital.
Family and party sources said that his body will be flown to Pakistan for burial.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani expressed sense of shock over the death of Pir Pagara. They were informed during the meeting of allies late Tuesday night.
A large number of people rushed to his residence after they received the news of his death through TV channels.
His son, Yunus Saaien, is the new Pir of Pagara.
The Original Name of Pir Pagaro was Shah Mardan Shah II. He was born on December 22, 1928 in his native village in Sindh named Pir jo Goth. He became Pir Pagaro in 1952 after his father Hazrat Syed Muhammed Sibghatullah Shah II (R.U.H) was hanged on 20 March 1943 by the British colonial government after armed uprising of Hurs.
On the political side he is known as the “King Maker” as many people who had his political blessings came into power. Most notably his Hur disciple Mohammed Khan Junejo who became the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
His hobbies were Hunting, horses, forecasting and horse racing.
