Boxer Amir arrives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani born British Boxer Amir Khan Monday has reached Pakistan to attend as a chief guest the second Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Tournament.

President Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Doda Khan Bhutto, Secretary General Akram Khan, large number of spectators and Amir’s relatives received him overwhelmingly at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Speaking to the media at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, Amir Khan said he has appealed in International Boxing Federation against the controversial decision in a match with Peterson. Decision is expected to come in the coming year regarding the appeal.

He added that his brother Haroon Khan is also working hard in boxing and hopefully would qualify for the Olympics. He is grateful to all Pakistanis’ prayers.

He expressed that Pakistan has great talent in boxing that needs training and opportunities to capitulate results.

He said that Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Championship would prove to be a milestone for Pakistan boxing future.
Khan further said he will support Pakistani boxers and that he was here to boost their morale.

During his stay in Pakistan, Khan will visit his ancestral house and meet friends and relatives in Lahore.
