Burhan-Mansehra Expressway to complete within time: Arbab

PESHAWAR: The Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil Friday said that all possible resources will be utilized for the early completion of Burhan-to-Mansehra Expressway and Luwari Road Tunnel.
He expressed these views while presiding over two back- to-back high-level meetings here.
According to a statement, Minister of state for CADS Sardar Shah Jahan Khan Yousaf, Minister for Population Welfare KPK Saleem Khan, Member National Assembly from Chitral Shahzada Muhayy-ud-din, Additional Secretary Communications Amjad Nazeer, Chairman NHA Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi, Members NHA, and other high officials were also present.
In the first meeting, the Chairman NHA, while briefing the Federal Minister on Mansehra Expressway, said that the total cost of this project is 47 billion rupees and will be completed in three years and this project will not only open new avenues of progress but will also facilitate trade, tourism, industry and agriculture of the areas.
He said that bypasses have been constructed from Mansehra, Hasan Abdal, Haripur, Hawalian and Abbotabad to integrate them with this important highway. The Chairman said that the Chinese firm CRBC is carrying out work on the 330 km patch of this road.
The Federal Minister instructed that the 24 km patch of this highway from Jhari Kas to Saraiay Saleh should be urgently completed to minimize the hardships being faced by the people of the area. It was told that this patch would incur a sum of 6 billion rupees.
Later on, in the second meeting, progress on the Luwari Road Project was reviewed, which is being constructed by GEO consultants in collaboration with the Korean firm SAMBU. It may be clarified the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has recently ordered to release a fund of 2 billion rupees for this project.
The Federal Minister Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan told the participants of the meeting that the Burhan-Mansehra Highway and Luwari Road Tunnel projects are the mega projects of national importance and the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and the President Asif Ali Zardari are very keen for the early completion of these projects because these projects will usher in an era of progress and prosperity for the people of Chitral and Hazara division and road links with the neighboring countries will also be strengthened.
The political elders from the said areas who attended the two meetings, expressed their satisfaction over the progress of the projects and thanked the Federal Minister for taking a personal interest in their completion.
