ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said Thursday that all the attempts against him as well as PPP would be thwarted at any cost.

He was speaking to different delegations of PPP and ANP, which called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.

“I am the spiritual son of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and I can face every kind of challenges. Benazir Bhutto had full confidence on me. Now the nation has confidence on her closest aide”, President added.

He said that he is not frightened with the prevailing situation. PPP came into power by getting peoples’ mandate and enitre political forces should respect it . According to the sources hearing in Supreme Court regarding memo scam , recent statements of Nawaz Sharif and other important issues and future policies of PPP were discussed during these meetings.

He said that the country is passing through a difficult time and it cannot afford the confrontation. He said that would continue the politics of reconcillation as he does not want conflict with any one.

The President was of the view that parliament is the best forum to resolve all the issues and he has shifted all his authorities to it.
The government has a clear cut stance on NATO attack in which there would be no change because the attack was assault of Pakistan’s sovereignty. If deemed necessary , the country can rethink its cooperation with its allied partners for its defence and integrity.

The president Zardari also met Asfand Yar Khan and discussed the current political scenario of the country. President also expressed his gratitude to him on becoming president ANP again.
