ISLAMABAD: At least 15 persons were killed and several others injured when a passenger van caught fire in road accident near Taxila early Tuesday.
Toyota van was on its way from Peshawar to Rawalpindi when due to over speeding the tyre burst near Chungi No 26 and the driver lost his control. The van then hit a tree, overturned and caught fire
The reports of incident spread like wild fire in the area. Rescue 1122 and Edhi ambulances rushed to the scene. The injured were extracted after cutting the parts of damaged body of van.
As per Rescue 1122 nothing could be said about the fate of driver. However 12 persons were burnt alive and their scorched bodies have been shifted to PIMS hospital. .
A number of passengers were stuck in the wreckage until rescue teams reached the scene, eyewitnesses said fearing the death toll may climb further.
Injured have been moved to PIMS Hospital, One Taniya, 7 is also among the injured persons who is being provided medical aid in children ward.
