No new case be registered against Afaq Ahmad: SHC

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) while disposing of bail application of Afaq Ahmad, president Muhajir Qaumi Movement in violence and kidnapping case has ordered no new case be registered against him.
Justice Maqbool Baqir of SHC took up the bail application of Afaq Ahmad for hearing Tuesday. A case was registered against Afaq Ahmad and his other associates with Landhi police whereby it was alleged that at his behest his associates had kidnapped an employee of water board who was worker of MQM and they had subjected him to violence.
Afaq Ahmad had filed application for his bail in this case. The court while disposing of the bail application said name of Afaq Ahmad is recorded in second column in this case therefore, he needs not to be granted bail. No new case be registered against him, court ordered.
On the other side, SHC has sought reply till November, 29 from Prosecutor General Sindh and Advocate General Sindh on the application filed by Afaq Ahmad seeking registration of murder and attempt of murder case against MQM leaders Altaf Hussain, Anees Qaim Khakwani, Muhammad Anwar and others.
Afaq Ahmad has taken plea in his application that as per Joint Interrogation Report Ajmal Pahari had attacked Bait ul Hamza at the behest of Altaf Hussain and others. 2 workers of his party were killed in the attack. Vice chairman of Muhajir Qaumi Movement, Akhtar Hussain was also killed at the behest of leadership of MQM, therefore, orders be issued for registration of case against them, he prayed.
Talking to media men, during course of hearing of the case, Afaq Ahmad said he would soon file application seeking registration of case in respect of murder of Aziz Ahmad Tariq. There were no go areas in the city and he would soon seek elimination of these areas after his release, he added.
