Pilot killed as JF17 Thunder crashes near attock

ISLAMABAD/Attock: A PAF JF17 Thunder has been crashed while it was on a routine training mission whereas its pilot Squadron Leader Hussain has also been martyred in the crash.
According to PAF sources a JF17 Thunder which was on its routine mission crashed in Mulla Mansoor mountains near Attock soon after it left Kamra airbase.
The pilot of the aircraft Squadron Leader Hussain has also been died in the crash, media quoted sources said. However no loss of civilian life or property has been reported on ground, according to PAF spokesperson.
PAF authorities, soon after the crash, dispatched helicopters and rescue teams to the incident site which searched for plane’s debris and pilot’s dead body, reports said.
The crash occurred at a time when JF17 Thunder fighters are taking part in Dubai Airshow along with several aircraft all over the world.
A board of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of accident, the spokesperson said.
Pakistan Air Force has inducted JF-17 in its fleet and with the co-production of Pak-China in full swing, the aircraft are rolling out from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra. The JF-17 Programme has been a success story since its inception in 1998. Developmental work on the aircraft commenced in the year-1999 and detailed design was finalized in September, 2001. After flight testing, a Small Batch of 08 aircraft was produced in year-2007 and finally serial co-production of the aircraft started in Pakistan in the Year-2009. So far PAF’s two Squadrons have been equipped with JF-17s, while the third is planned to be raised by beginning next year.
