Most cases of women violence in Punjab, NA told

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar on Thursday said that Punjab’s record regarding ‘women torture’ is worst than all other provinces.
Addressing in the National Assembly regarding Human Rights, Advisor Khokhar said that women torture cases had reached 2581 whereas murder cases count is 6542 that is an embarrassing figure for Punjab. Benazir Crisis Centres were devolved to provinces after 18th Amendment whereas Punjab Government refused taking thirteen Crisis centres. Discussions are underway with Punjab Government regarding Crisis Centres.
He added that 290 rape cases came forward whereas 3690 were assassinated in Sindh, 33 rape cases and 548 assassination cases in Balochistan whereas 2501 murder cases took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khokhar said that accused were apprehended but proofs are not gathered in time, which drags the cases for years. He said that convicts will be caught and punish the through Commission and if bill ever needs change then we change it.
