Mumtaz death sentence: Religious workers attack Benazir Monument and burn her posters

RAWALPINDI: Workers of different Religious parties of the country have attacked Benazir Monument at Liaqat Bagh and burn the posters of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Zulifqar Bhutto to protest against the decision of awarding death sentence to Mumtaz Qadri, who killed former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on January 4 this year.

According to details soon after the court’s decision, the workers of Sunni Tehreek Shahbaz Islami, JUI, ATI, Jamia Rizwiya came on street and started their protest against the decision.

The angry workers then turned toward the Monument of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto where they pulled down the posters of Benazir Bhutto and Zulifqar Bhutto and burn them on road.

The same protests have been seen at the Committee Chowk where the workers shouted slogans against the government and called this decision an anti-Islamic act. The workers also tore the posters of Benazir that were placed at different points at Committee Chowk.
