ISLAMABAD: Cricketer Shoaib Malik and his wife Tennis Star Sania Mirza called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today and discussed with the President their charity campaign and efforts aimed at raising funds for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims in Pakistan.
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza while expressing profound grief over the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan said that they would launch a fund raising campaign within and outside the country to help their Pakistani brothers and sisters in this hour of need. Shoaib and Sania Mirza said that they both would play exhibition matches in Pakistan and outside the country to generate funds for the flood victims.
The President thanked them for their sympathetic feelings for the rain hit people in various parts of the country and appreciated their efforts and support for the flood victims.
The President while talking to Shoaib Malik also appreciated his cricket saying that the sportsmen were also the ambassadors of the country who not only highlight the name of the country through their excellence in sports but also contribute in brining forth the real potential and image of the country.
