Nation to observe 46th Defense Day today

ISLAMABAD: The 46th Defense Day of the country would be observed today (Tuesday) throughout the country in memory of martyred people who gave sacrifices of their life for the defense of the country.
The day of 6th September starts with special prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan. President and Prime Minister and many ministers address on 6th September from special functions of Defense Day.
Special tributes are paid to Army officers like Captain Sarwar Shaheed,Major Tufail Shaheed,Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed,Sawar Muhammad Hussain, Lance Naik Mehfooz Shaheed, Shaheed Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Captain Karnal Sher Shaheed and Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed who gave sacrifices of their life and were awarded with “Nishan-e-Hairder” on 6th September, 1965.
Pakistan Army displays the latest missiles, tanks, guns, army aviation helicopters and armament being used by Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Corps, Army Air Defense, Signals, Army Service Corps and Army Medical Corps live on various places. National songs and special documents about 6th September, 1965 and martyred people of 6th September are aired on TV channels.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in his message on Defense Day said Defense Day is a reflection of our national determination that Pakistan is a peace-loving country.
“We do not entertain any aggressive or expansionist designs against anyone but our love for peace should not be construed as our weakness. We can pay the enemy in the same coin if anyone undertakes any adventure against us.
We have the distinct honour of being the world’s seventh nuclear power and the first one to attain this capability in the Islamic world. Our nuclear program is safe in every respect. Pakistan’s Defense has become impregnable now. Our armed forces and the people of Pakistan are fully prepared to defend the national frontiers and no one can dare cast his evil eye on Pakistan”, PM said.
PM said We are playing decisive role in a war against terrorism with a view to making world a hub of peace. The entire civilized world acknowledges our role in this regard. On the occasion of Defence Day, we reiterate our resolve that we will continue to make efforts for establishment of peace and make sure that the scourge of terrorism is eliminated, he said.




The nation is again at war and this time it is against terrorism and radicalism. It is important that we win this war to secure our future.
