Dengue cases in Punjab jump to 112

LAHORE: The number of people affected by dengue virus in Punjab has reached 112 as another 27 people have tested positive for the mosquito-borne disease here on Tuesday.
According to Punjab Health Department, 18 dengue-hit patients are getting treatment in Services Hospital, one in General Hospital, one in Institute of Public Health and four are under treatment in private hospitals of Lahore.
The remaining two cases of dengue virus have been reported in Faisalabad and Muzaffargarh. Overall 92 cases of dengue virus have been reported in Lahore.
On the directive of Punjab government, separate wards have been set up in government-run hospitals for dengue patients. Free treatment services are being offered in these hospitals.
Top officials of the Health Department today visited different hospitals and inspected the treatment facilities.
Despite the sharp surge in dengue spread, the government has failed to undertake fumigation drive in affected areas.
