MUSCAT: Three expatriate Pakistani nationals were arrested by the police on the charges of kidnapping a man of the same nationality.
Once the Bidbid police station received information about the kidnapping, a Royal Oman Police (ROP) team was set up, which included sleuths of the Criminal Investigations Directorate, Al Dakhilyah region police, Al Sharqiyah region police and the Crime Combating Department.
The team was tasked with handling the technical research and investigation in tracking down the accused. The investigators were able to find out that the three kidnappers, along with the kidnapped, were hiding in Ghabra Dham village in the wilayat of Dima wa’Tayeen, according to Times of Oman.
The team raided the hideout yesterday morning with support from the Special Task Police and the Department of Investigation and rescued the kidnapped person.
The three accused were also arrested in the raid.
According to the police, the reason for the kidnapping was that the victim had promised to provide one of the accused and another person of the same nationality with three visas for RO1,140. But after having taken the money he ran away with the money.
The three accused later found him in his hideout at Lizagh village in Samael wilayat. The victim was blindfolded, handcuffed with a rope and was held captive in a school which is still under construction, in Dima wa’Tayeen.
The police have urged all citizens and residents to support them in their fight against crime, and have called upon everyone to comply with the laws of the country.
