Air Blue Tragedy; CAA forwards initial report to Govt

KARACHI : Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday forwarded the initial report of Air Blue tragic incident (July 28 2010) to the government.

According to Spokesman of CAA, all aspects including internal/external sabotage, incapacitation of the aircraft systems, flight fire, bird strike or structural fatigue, human factor, organizational factors and others were adequately analyzed in the investigation. The report however does not state the cause or the reason behind the crash, nor does it hold anyone responsible.

The interim report states that the investigation report has been completed and sent to the federal government. The investigation report will be released when comments from companies which manufactured and designed the place are received.

The Airblue plane crash was the worst aviation disaster in the history of Pakistan. All 152 passengers and crew on board were killed when Airblue flight 202 crashed into the Margalla Hills.

An Air blue flight flying from Karachi to Islamabad crashed into the Margalla Hills on a tragic July 28 morning killing all of 152 passengers on board.

The plane lost contact with the control tower shortly before the crash which occurred amid thick fog and heavy rainfall in Islamabad. The plane caught fire after the crash which severely hindered relief efforts.

It was reported that the pilot was instructed to perform a go around due to traffic on the runway, however due to severe weather in the city; very low visibility caused the crash.

It has been one year since the horrific crash and yet the reason behind it is not known. The families of the victims are still seeking answers and the death of their loved ones still remains a mystery.

  1. The report seems to have been lost in the red tape, just like other such reports on numerous incidents. This has created mistrust among the public against the government, which eventually does lead to radicalization of the society.
