AIOU campus to be established in Gilgit

ISLAMABAD: A full-fledge Regional Campus of the Allama Iqbal Open University would be established in Gilgit wherein all facilities including hostel for students, library, computer labs, examination hall, video conferencing facility, F.M. radio, Model Study Centre, workshop hall facilities would be provided in view of mounting educational opportunities in Gilgit-Baltistan and rest of the remote parts of this region, said AIOU VC Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi.
During a press conference, Dr. Sangi said that in first phase Rs. 30 million have been allocated for the establishment of Regional Campus in Gilgit and negotiation with Government functionaries has been almost finalized and work for establishment of a full-fledge campus will begin soon.
Dr. Sangi said that AIOU has focused its full concentration towards improving quality of education especially among women. He said in order to remove academic deficiency extra courses are being offered so that students could get standard level education. He said that curriculum improvement is a top plan of the University.
Dr. Sangi said that all the innovative and latest technologies which include Model Computer Labs, Video Conferencing, Web Based Education, Capacity building of the staff and tutors, e-learning and Online Institute for distance education are used in AIOU which are important for better quality education and services.
