Resignation of Governor State Bank accepted

KARACHI: The resignation of Governor State Bank, Shahid Hafeez Kardar has been accepted, with Yaseen Anwar expected to hold the slot of acting Governor, State Bank.

Sources have cited differences over excessive printing of currency and government’s non-stop addiction to loans as the reasons behind resignation of Shahid Hafeez Kardar; issues over which he is known to have expressed his strong reservations.

State Bank sources have disclosed that he was not even available since past two days.

Sources have also disclosed that government had tried to persuade the Governor State Bank to take back his resignation, but filed to convince him.

Shahid Hafeez Kardar had taken over his responsibilities on 09th Sep 2010 and is the sixth Governor of State Bank to have tendered resignation, and his tenure has been the shortest.

The predecessor of Shahid Hafeez Kardar, Saleem Raza had also resigned, while the spokesman State Bank, Syed Waseem uddin has denied having any knowledge of resignation of its Governor.
