42 died in 48 hours in Karachi

KARACHI: As maximum as 14 people have been killed in separate firing incidents during last 12 hours, whereas, it totaled 42 in last 48 hours.

Sources said that situation is still very tense in Orangi Town and incidents of firing are still continuing in Katti Pehari while the people of the area have been stuck in their houses.

Due to the ongoing grim situation in the area people have started migrating from their residencies. All business activities, bazaars and shops are closed, therefore, the locals have been facing acute difficulties due to unavailability of water and food items.

The locals complained that the local administration have deployed rangers and police personnel on main roads while the firing incidents have been happening in streets.

In Orangi Town area at least 5 persons including a woman sustained injuries during firing incidents which was started on Thursday morning. While reports of killing have been received from other parts of the city including Gulistan Johar, Baldia, near Metrological office, North Karachi, Gulshan Iqbal and Site area.

While on Tuesday, the incident of firing had started immediately in areas of Orangi Town, Hassan Square and Sher Shah and after the incident fear and panic spread in the aforementioned areas. However, Police and Rangers personnel controlled the situation in Hassan Square and Sher Shah. On the other hand, in Qasba Colony the firing incident turned into bloody fight and the riot remained continued till Thursday. Resultantly, 4 persons including a woman injured in these fresh incidents of firing.

It is worth mentioning here that at least more than a dozen people have been killed separate bloody incidents of firing Qasba Colony area while 30 other children and women sustained injuries.

Police sources said that in Memon Goth of Malir unknown persons killed Zahid Ali while police has recovered dead bodies of three persons including taxi driver from Garden area near Zoo.

In an area of Baldia Town No. 7 unidentified persons killed a man while two others have been killed by the firing of anonymous gunmen in Gulistan Johar near Perfume Chowk.

In an other incident 2 person was killed and other 7 sustained injured by the firing of armed men in an area of Sarjani Town. Besides unidentified men killed a person from Afridi Colony and 2 others shoot down in Shah Faisal Colony and Nazim Abad.

Moreover, some unknown miscreants set a blaze 4 houses in Orangi Town on Thursday evening.

The locals told that it is worrisome situation in the area despite deployment of large number of security personnel of police and rangers, the security officials have been failed to control the situation.

Meanwhile, Qasba Colony inhabitants told that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party workers are trying to occupy in each other’s areas and therefore, scuffling with each other while law enforcement agencies have been failed to counter the situation.

The people from the above mentioned areas have expressed their deep concern over the day by day deteriorating situation of the city where despite the presence of rangers and police bloodshed is still continuing which is perturbing the whole cycle of life.
