LONDON: Pakistan’s outstanding junior squash player Saad Shahid has added one more European title to his promising record by winning Italian Junior Open 2011, beating Arthem Saleem of USA by in straight games.

The success at the Italian championship has come on the heels of his recent wins at German Open and Polish Open. Earlier, he had reached final of Welsh Open this year. More than 100 players from 15 different countries participated in the nineteenth edition of the Italian Junior Open held in Figs National Squash Centre at Riccione.

Saad is a self-motivated, enthusiastic and highly talented player who had been participating in tournaments at his own expense having been trained at the Roshan Khan Squash Complex and Aga Khan University Karachi.

A media release of Pakistan High Commission said since last year a high ranking official at the High Commission Nafees Zakaria has moved to harness support to the young player various quarters.

He was invited to the High Commission on many occasions as well. Pakistan’s Ambassador in Germany has been instructed in getting sponsorship for Saad’s current tours.
