PPP leading in AJK elections 2011

MUZAFFARABAD: Political stalwarts made their way to the AJK Legislative Assembly in June 26 elections while in the three constituencies elections were postponed due to incidents of violence that claimed three lives.

Those who were declared successful included former Prime Ministers Barrister Sultan Mohammad Chaudhry, Farooq Haider, Sardar Yaqoob, Sardar Attique and senior politiciants like Ch Abdul Majeed, Sardar Qamaruz Zaman, Siyab Khalid, Ch Ismail and Tariq Farooq.

According to the unofficial results announced late Sunday, two independent candidates were also declared successful. Elections were held on 37 seats of the Legislative Assembly and according to last unconfirmed reports, Pakistan People’s Party was ahead of other contestants with 19 seats, PML-N with 8, Muslim Conference (ML) 4, two independent candidates while election results were postponed in LA-17 Ponch due to violence.

The unofficial results declared late Sunday revealed that in LA-1, Mirpur 1, PPP candidate Afsar Shahid succeeded with 10,152 votes. Masood Khalid independent candidate was the runner up.

In LA-2, Mirpur 2, PPP candidate Ch Abdul Majeed succeeded while in LA-3, Mirpur 3 Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry of PPP bagged the coveted seat.

PPP’s Arshad Hussain succeeded from LA-4, Mirpur 4, another PPP candidate Ch Pervaiz Ashraf secured his seat for Legislative Assembly from LA-5, Bhimber 1. From LA-6, Bhimber 2, independent candidate Ali Khan Swati was declared successful. In LA-7, Bhimber 3, PML-N candidate Ch Tariq Farooq was the successful candidate, LA-8, Kotli 1 went to Muslim Conference candidate Malik Muhammad Nawaz, voters elected PML-N candidate Rao Naseer LA-10 Kotli 3 and voters in LA-11, Kotli 4 gave its decision in favour of PPP Ch Yasin.

Likewise in LA-12, Kotil 5 PPP’s Matloob Inqalabi, LA-13, Bagh 1, Muslim Conference’s Sardar Attique, LA-14, Bagh 2 PPP’s Qamar Zaman succeeded in their respective constituencies.

From LA-15, Bagh 3, ML’s Sardar Amir Akbar; LA-18, Ponch 2 PPP’s Ghulam Sadiq; LA-19 Ponch 3, PPP Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob; LA-20, Ponch 4, ML Sardar Siab Khalid; LA-21 Ponch 5, PPP Muhammad Hussain; LA-22 Ponch 6 PPP Sardar Akhtar Hussain; LA-23, Neelam 1, PPP Mian Wahid; LA-24, Muzaffarabad 1, PPP Ch Latif Akbar; LA-25, Muzaffarabad 2, PPP Syed Nazil Hussain Naqvi; LA-28, Muzaffarabad 5, PML-N Raja Farooq Haider; LA-29 Muzaffarabad 6 PPP Ch Abul Rashid; LA-31 PML-N’s Muhammad Ismail; LA-32, PML-N’s Ch Ishaq; LA-33, independent candidate Muhammad Hussain; LA-34, PML-Q, PPP joint candidate Akbar Ibrahim; LA-35 PML-N’s Rao Muhammad Siddique; LA-38, PML-N’s Shaukat Ali and from LA-39, Syed Azhar Gilani made their way to the AJK Legislative Assembly according got unconfirmed results. From LA-40, PPP candidate Abdul Salam Butt was declared unofficially successful candidate.
