AJK ready for election encounter 2011

MUZAFFARABAD: All arrangements have been made in connection with AJK legislative assembly elections taking place on Sunday.

As many as 218 candidates of religious and political parties and 203 independent candidates are taking part in election encounter. Over 650 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive and over 700 polling stations as sensitive. Besides police and paramilitary forces, army contingents will remain deployed to avert any untoward incident.

5 women candidates, 3 former and one sitting Prime Minister, chairman AJK PPP, PML-N convenor Raja Farooq Haider, Prime Minister Sardar Attiq Ahmad Khan, AJK Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Abdul Rashid Turabi and Jammu and Kashmir PPP president Sardar Khalid Ibrahim are among the 421 contesters in AJK election.

About 2359566 voters will exercise their right to vote in the elections scheduled for June, 26. Over 700000 voters will elect their representatives in 12 constituencies of of refugees in Pakistan.
