Two blasts rocked Peshawar, 28 died 45 injured

PESHAWAR: As many as 28 people have been died and 45 others injured in two back to back blasts that occurred in the Khyber Super Market in Peshawar on Sunday.

Dead bodies and Injured have been shifted to Lady Reading hospital.

According to initial reports, a cylinder blew up in a restaurant bustling with customers. As rescue workers reached the spot to tend to those affected by the blast, one more powerful blast took place in quick succession. The second blast was heard miles away.

The blast was powerful enough to shatter the windowpanes of nearby buildings while the restaurant located alongside a five-story residential tower has destroyed completely, collapsing big portion of the plaza.

Eye witnesses said that large number of people were presented in the market when blasts occurred.

Light went off soon after the blast because of the fire that erupted in the market and damaged the transformer. However, the fire-fighters controlled the fire within short span of time.

Rescue services have been kick started following the incident whereas Police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site of blast and cordoned off the area.
