Over hundred countries to participate in Freedom Flotilla-II journey

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Mavi Marmara, the philanthropic organization of Turkey organizing Freedom Flotilla-II (FF-II), Ismael Ghilmaz has said that twenty-four International Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s) have announced to be part of Freedom Flotilla-II journey.

He said this while addressing a press conference held by Khubaib Foundation here in the National Press Club on Saturday.

He said that some fifteen vessels would be part of the FF-II that would take humanitarian aid including edibles, medicines and basic necessities of life. He informed that that the ships will leave for Gaza on June 25, 2011 from Turkish Capital Istanbul.

He further stated that Israel was continuing blockade over the movement of Palestinians at the Gaza border. Israel raised the issue of FF-II in European Union to stop the journey saying that it would create tensions between the nations, he added.

The chairman said that the United Nations strongly criticized the brazen raid on the FF-I last year that ensued in the deaths of nine humanitarian activists.

The Israeli raid on FF-I expose the actual image of ongoing atrocities of Israel on innocent Palestinians who are besieged within the boundaries deprived of the basic necessities of life, he added.

He explained that heirs of the FF-I was determined to undertake the FF-II journey with more enthusiasm than the first one.

Meanwhile, the Flotilla Ghazis personified Pak-Turk friendship and urged the Pakistani nation to donate more and more aid for the humanitarian convoy.

Moreover, the chairman Mavi Marmara stated that the basic purpose of this journey is to help the hapless people of Palestine and to highlight the atrocities of Israel what they are violating the international rules by sealing the boarders and seizing the Palestinians in open air imprisonment. He stressed the need to open the sea border in order to facilitate the masses.

Concluding the address, the chairman welcomed international law enforcement agencies through media to inspect the ships, as Israel expressed reservations that unauthorized weapons could have supplied to the freedom fighters of Palestine through this journey.
