ISLAMABAD: Body of missing journalist Saleem Shahzad has been found from Hear Rasool area in Mandi-Bahauddin on Tuesday.

Saleem Shahzad, working for the Asia Times Online, went missing three days back.

Shahzad left his house in Islamabad to take part in a television programme but never arrived at the station.

Shahzad is Asia Times Online Pakistan Bureau Chief. He had been scheduled to record the programme a private TV channel about an article he wrote for the Asia Times Online newspaper regarding PNS Mehran Base attack.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Tuesday expressed grave concern at Shahzad’s disappearance, urged him to be released unharmed and said his suspected abductors must be identified and brought to trial.

In November 2006, Shahzad was kidnapped by Taliban militants in Afghanistan’s Helmand province, where he was reporting. He and another Pakistani journalist were held for a week on suspicion of spying, ’tried’ by their captors and released unharmed after they ’confessed’ to wrongdoing.
