Journalist goes missing

ISLAMABAD: Syed Saleem Shazad, Bureau Chief, Asia Times, has been missing since Sunday evening.

As per details, Saleem left his house at Nazimuddin Road F-8/4 to participate in a program of a private TV channel but neither he reached the private TV channel nor remained in contact with his family or friends. His mobile and car is not traceable yet.

Sources told that Saleem Shahzad had recently filed investigative stories regarding PNS Mehran Base attack for Asia Times and he was further working on more stories regarding the attack

Close friends and families of Saleem Shahzad have expressed fears that he might have been abducted.

It is quite astonishing to note that Islamabad which is most of the time remain on red alert and under tight security, journalist repeatedly face such incidents. It will remain a great question mark for those who are responsible for the security.

On the other hand South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) , Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalist (RIUJ) and other journalist organisations expressing their grave concern over the missing of Saleem Shahzad said that it if quite astonishing to note that Islamabad which is most of the time remain on red alert and under tight security, journalist repeatedly face such incidents. It will remain a great question mark for those who are responsible for the security.

They strongly condemned this shameful act, by secret hands involved in the incident, and demanded authorities to investigate and to find out who picked up Saleem Shazad, and take necessary actions for his immediate recovery/release.
