Four killed, 5 hurt in terrorists attack at PNS Mehran Base

KARACHI: At least four people have been killed and five injured as unknown assailants attacked Pakistan Naval Station Mehran and exploded five bombs and opened discriminate firing.
According to media reports, around 10 terrorists stormed into the PNS Mehran building and exploded five bombs and opened indiscriminate firing on Sunday night. Soon after the incident Pakistan Naval commandoes have started a backlash against the attackers.
The security forces and rescue services rushed to the site immediately after the incident. Interior minister Rehman Malik confirmed the terrorist attack and said that commandos operation is being conducted as terrorist are present inside the base.
The law enforcement agencies and rescue teams have arrived at the scene and state of emergency has been declared in all Karachi hospitals.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is staging a sit-in in Karachi at Netty Jetty Bridge. A large number of PTI workers along with PTI Chief Imran Khan are participating in the sit-in against the US drone attacks in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
Terrorists are still present in PNS Mehran where exchange of firing between terrorists and law enforcement agencies continue till the last updates. The Police, rangers and other law enforcement agencies rushed and cordoned off the area, soon after the blasts and firing while the rescue teams including Edhi and Chhipa ambulances have entered PAF Faisal Base.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has telephoned chief of armed forces, discussing the critical situation took place at one of the sensitive place of the city. He also telephoned Rehman Malik, directing him to take appropriate measures immediately.
Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari being the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces has taken notice of the incident and discussed the critical situation created in the wake of terrorist attack. The President also telephoned the Prime Minister to discuss the matter and said Pakistan is facing the menace of terrorism and would continue its fight till the end of last terrorist.
The President also directed Rehman Malik to know the overall situation of the incident and take appropriate measure immediately.
