MUZAFFARABAD: Rights group Press for Peace (PFP) has demanded justice for children survivors of sexual and physical abuse in different areas of the Pakistani controlled Azad Kashmir.
“PFP is concerned over the rise of victimization of children in Pakistan controlled part of Kashmir, which lacks indispensable legislation and rehabilitation institutes for the protection and recovery of vulnerable children,” said a Press Release issue here on Monday.
Giving the details of appalling incident, Press for Peace (PFP) spokesperson Jalaluddin Mughal said that an eight year child was sexually abused in Barali Village of Kotli District of Azad Kashmir during a wedding ceremony by his village fellow.
The accused has been arrested by police and investigations continue.
PFP official called upon the government to provide medical and psychological counseling to the victim and said that government should tighten the laws in order to protect the children.
“Government should provide compensation to the victim child and accused must be punished immediately” .
He urged the government to establish children care centers to provide counseling and psychological treatment for children survivors of sexual and physical abuse.
PFP has also condemned a similar incident in which a religious leader has been accused for inflicting physical and sexual torture to a student of a religious school (Madarssa) in Muzafrarabad, the capital city of Pakistani Kashmir.
