PPP agrees to withdraw cases against PML-Q leaders

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has given his positive nod to withdraw cases against PML-Q leaders in Sindh including Altaf Hussain Hunar, accused of murder attempt against Zardari’s sister Azra Fazal Pechuho.

The PPP is also willing to withdraw cases against Moonis Elahi but in his case managing things are not easy as his case is in independent court, PML-Q General Secretary of Larkana Division Babu Sarwar Siyal Babu Sarwar Siyal said.

Babu Sarwar Siyal also told Online that PPP and PML-Q also finalized their deals for adjustment in Sindh besides ending blaming the party’s persons.

Siyal also confirmed that the President had agreed before his leaving to Russia to withdraw cases against the PML-Q leaders including Altaf Hussain Hunar.

Some of those who were facing cases as a political revenge were in Islamabad. “Some of the Q league leaders contacted the Chaudhry brethren for clearing them off before any deal with PPP and several of them met them Thursday,” Babu Sarwar Siyal, who was also facing cases of killings and kidnapping for long, told Online here in Balochistan House while confirming finalization of the deals in the province.

Zardari agreed that cases against PML-Q Senior Vice President Altaf Hussain Hunar, who spent a year in the case, and 72 other PML-Q workers who were also blamed for the murder attempt along with Hunar will be withdrawn. Hunar was the provincial minister during the former government.

The PPP leadership also agreed to withdraw cases against other PML-Q leaders like IJaz Shah Sherazi, Malik Changiz Khan, former Provincial Minister Khan Muhammad Dairy, Babu Sarwar Siyal, Dr Mola Bux Junejo and others.

Meanwhile, well-placed sources told Online that the PPP leadership also agreed to make Hunar, accused of murder attempt on MNA Azra Afzal Pecho, the provincial minister. The PPP also agreed to take four ministers from PML-Q. The sources said that names Hunar, Ijaz shah Sherazi, and Haleem Adil Shiekh were finalized but for the fourth minister choice between Sheryar Malik, and Muhammad Ali Malkani are under consideration.

“The government is willing to withdraw cases against Moonis Elahi son of Pervez Elahi. But the case is in court and the government cannot easily end cases against him,” the sources informed.

However, so far no member of the government or PML-Q is confirming that the cases would be withdrawn.
