TRIPOLI: At least 10 people were killed and 50 others wounded Saturday in an intensive fight between Qaddafi loyal forces and rebels in the Libyan city of Misrata.

According to reports, bodies of 10 people and 50 injured persons including soldiers of Qaddafi forces were shifted to hospital who have been victimized during the heavy fight between rebels and official army of Libya.

Rebels claimed that Qaddafi forces have withdrawn from Misrata and their occupation sustained over the city.

Saturday’s upsurge in the fight for the port city comes after the Qaddafi regime said it had given its army an “ultimatum” to stop the rebellion in the city.

Misrata has been the scene of deadly urban guerrilla fighting between pro-Kadhafi forces and outgunned rebels for more than six weeks.
