72nd death anniversary of Allama Iqbal observed with due reverence in Sialkot

DASKA: The 72nd death anniversary Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed with due reverence and solemnity in Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, and Sialkot.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal died on April 21, 1938 at the age of 60. Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of his soul and number of programs was organized to highlight his teachings and his philosophy that gave an independent state to the Muslims of sub-continent. Special programmes, seminars, speeches and debates were held in all schools of tehsil.

In Sialkot, the home town of Allama Iqbal, people from different walks of life including businessmen, journalists, members of Sialkot District Bar, police officers and students visited Iqbal Manzil to pay homage to great poet-philosopher. Number of female students also offered Quran Khawani at Iqbal Manzil and the visitors saw different sections of the building, especially the room where he had lived. They placed bouquets there .

A procession was also taken out from Lady Anderson school to Iqbal Manzil while various roads, prominent buildings and government offices were decorated with portraits and verses of Allama Iqbal.
