23rd Int’l Cultural week at IIUI ends

ISLAMABAD: The 23rd International Cultural Week at the International Islamic University Female Campus has ended after three days celebration.

The event ended today with the prize distribution ceremony which took place today at the Auditorium in female campus of Islamic university. The event was preceded by a one day Cultural Exhibition and a one day International Cultural Dress Show at the Faisal Masjid Campus of the university.

The event started at Noon after arrival of the Chief Guest, Ambassador of High Commission of Malaysia Mr. Dato Ahmad Anwaar Bin Adnan and by Guest of Honor senator Neelofar Bakhtiar. The event was also attended by the President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Rector Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik and Director Female Campus Prof. Mrs. Qaiserah Alvi. The ceremony was also attended by a large number of students.

Prizes were given for the cultural stalls, dress show, sports and other co-curricular activities. China had been declared as the first position holder in the cultural stalls, dress show and food items as well. Jordan stood second in food items and turkey stood third in it. Somalia got second position in dress show and Kenya got third position in it.

Saudi Arabia stood second in the cultural stalls and Malaysia third. At the national level Punjab stood first in the cultural stalls and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stood second while Gilgit Baltistan stood third. Special Prize was given to Afghanistan for their good performance. Miss. Aisha Rasheed was declared as the Best Athlete year 2011. Faculty of Usuluddin has been declared as the best faculty year 2011. Prizes for co curricular activities were also given to the students in various competitions which were held as a part of the cultural week.

Ambassador of Malaysia while giving his comments thanked the University for inviting him to that prestigious event; it was his very first visit to the university during his posting. Senator Neelofar Bakhtiar said that she was glad to be at the Islamic university and encouraged students to work better for their country. President of the university said that he is proud of the students who have shown zeal and participated whole heartedly in the event.

Rector Islamic university appreciated the efforts of the students while Prof. Qaiserah Alvi said the event gives confidence to the students. She thanked all the staff for their help and coordination during the event and wished students best of luck for their future.
