Women journalists have an important role to reform the society : Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: The federal interior minister Rehman Malik has declared that female journalists have an important role to reform the society as whole.
Addressing a 2-day conference of female journalists, he said that gender discrimination and inequality was fostering hate and prejudice in the society, while female journalists had an important role for creating awareness and positive traditions in the society.
He informed that governemnt was taking all possible measures for the purpose, and while declaring that he had learnt politics from (L) Benazir Bhutto, said that it was her vision that he followed.
He declared Benazir Bhutto as a beacon for female journalists, and informed that governemnt had /was taking numerous steps to bring the women segment into National mainstream.
He cited a 5% quota had been allotted for women in coastguards, while IGs and home secretaries of all four Provinces have been issued directives to ensure best possible justice for women, by establishing separate complaint cells for them.
He also lauded media for highlighting the aspects of war against terrorism, and bringing public awareness over the issue as such, and for playing its due part in war against terrorism, amid war like and all odd situation(s).
Assuring best possible security for journalists, Rehman Malik also awarded certificates among women journalists.
