Govt to construct 32 dams in provinces

ISLAMABAD: The government has planned to construct 32 dams in four provinces as part of its efforts to ensure adequate water availability for irrigation in years ahead.

According to official media, Ministry for Water and Power sources said Sunday that these dams will be constructed in two phases. In the first phase work on twelve dams has already been started and it will be completed by 2013.

The sources said twenty dam will be constructed in second phase and will be completed by 2016.

Sources in FATA Secretariat told Online that 12 small dams would also be constructed in various parts of tribal areas. “Construction on four out of the total 12 dams was already started in Mohmand Agency and other areas,” the sources added.
