Degree verification powers of HEC removed

ISLAMABAD: Government on Saturday took back the authority of attestation of degrees from Higher Education Commission.
According to sources, as per Prime Minister’s order to testify degrees of all government employees, the Establishment Division advised government departments to refer degrees of their employees to educational institutes instead of HEC and secretary establishment division has sent letters to all provisional secretaries in this regard.
DG, (A&A) Rahim Bakhsh Channa confirmed that government has ordered to testify degrees of government employees including OGRA chairman from the universities or other institutes rather than from HEC.
He said that government didn’t send any degree of its employee for attestation. It is pertinent to mention here that government has not referred degrees of two hundred and fifty members of National Assembly to HEC for attestation process.
HEC should be abolished with immediate effect as it is playing havoc with lives of all Pakistani students existing, future and old.
The following are the reasons:
1) Degrees are awarded by Universities not HEC. HEC simply verifies the results of these universities to stamp such degrees at a rip off cost.
2) HEC has failed to implement anything so far such as:
a) Failed to remove non-PhD staff as VCs from universities like Bahria, NUML, NUST, FUI, NDU etc
b) Failed to control universities’ entry criteria to be based on competitive NTS test
c) Discriminated local graduates with foreign
d) Degraded all old MBA students by declaring “Old 16 Years MBA is not equal to New 18 Year MBA” meaning all old Masters are practically now graduates, and all graduates are now intermediates… making all Armed Forces General Ranking Offers Graduates and all Commissioned Officers intermediates
e) Messed up equivalence system i.e.,
Old MBA (Masters) not equal to New MBA
New MBA equals MPhil
3 Year LLB + BSc equals Masters
Chartered Accountant equals M.Com.
New BBA equals old MBA
But
Dual Masters not equal to MPhil
BE + Old MBA (even LUMS) not equals to MS
3) Failed and messed up PhD entrance
e.g.,
Old 16 years MBA will not be admitted directly into PhD, which was clearly defied by LUMS even when VC LUMS was member of National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) and LUMS openly defied HEC by openly admitting old MBAs into its PhD program
4) No one in HEC top management has any background in Higher Education Management, and all where misfits

5) Blatantly Self Education was introduced in the country making price of education sky rocketing (where 70% of Pakistan’s population remains deprived of even elementary education)
6) Massive corruption and nepotism in HEC
7) Major fake PhD’s awarded to Generals and Public Servants (like UG Isani ex-UGC chairman)
