Nurses of capital to observe strike from Thursday

ISLAMABAD: Nurses from different hospitals of the federal capital have announced to go on strike from today (Thursday). While the nurses from Lahore and Karachi would also join them as protest for realization of their charter of demands.
This was decided by a meeting in which different associations of nurses from different hospitals of Federal capital participated , which was held at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The President of Nurses Association at PIMS Julliana Williams presided over the meeting.
The meeting decided that nurses from the capital city would observe token strike for two hours daily commencing from 14 April to 18 April . During meeting Julliana Willams told the nurses that she had already contacted the nurses associations at different cities including Lahore , Karachi and Peshawar who also agreed to join the protest.
She said that she also got in touch with the President Pakistan Nurses Federation Ilmia Mughal who has also shown her willingness to become the member of their protest move.
“We would watch till18 April , if our protest fails to get attention of high-ups of Health Ministry , we would not only prolong our strike but it would be extended to other cities”, Julliana told Online
She said that nurses started their protest far before the young doctors , but the government has admitted their demands but the nurses were put to the wall.
When contacted member of standing committee on health and ANP Senator Zahid Khan., he said that the meeting of standing committee would be convened during the current week in which the issues of nurses regarding their job regularization raise in salary and their job conditions would be discussed in detail.
