PM felicitates winning cricket team: Awards Rs 1m to each player

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that for the promotion of games in country ‘International Events’ will be organized soon while he announced reward of Rs. 1 million for each player of Pakistani Cricket Team and Rs. 0.5 million for each Official.

The PM expressed his views while speaking to the Journalists here on Monday on the occasion of hosting reception for the cricket team at Prime Minister House. He said that we are hopeful to organize cricket series this year in Pakistan against our ‘arch rival’ India.

Prime Minister said that if our cricket team had not qualified for Semi-final in World Cup Tournament, then dialogue with India would not have been possible. While after cricket series with India, we are trying to organize hockey series with India which would play a significant role to normalize Indo-Pak relations in future.

Mr. Gilani praised the Pakistani team for their good performance during Cricket World Cup, and said we are hopeful that players learn from their mistakes and in future will bring huge successes for Pakistan.

Responding to a question, he said that ministries would be transferred to the Provinces according to the 18th Amendment.

Federal Minster for Information & Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sports Minister Engineer Shaukat Ullah, Chairman Senate Standing Committee for Sports Abdul Ghafar Qureshi, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ejaz Butt and other high ups were also present on the occasion.
