Sindh govt to induct 0.3 million LHW: Shehla Raza

KARACHI: Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza has said that the provincial government would induct some 0.3 million lady heath workers as firing anyone from job is not the part of PPP’s manifesto.
She was speaking at a seminar regarding mother-child health-care organized by LEAD Pakistan, at a local hotel. She said that the mortality rate has become higher due to lack of sense of responsibility in doctors. Many women lose their lives during pregnancy in spite they use to dwell near basic health unit (BHU).
“There are comparatively diminutive basic health facilities in the interior Sindh but BHUs at big cities like Karachi close down at one ‘O Clock in the afternoon and revamping of these BHUs in entire Sindh including Karachi is the need of the hour”, Deputy Speaker suggested.
She said that the doctors should realize their duty as major life loss is occurred due to their negligence. Whatever the government executes but it seems that nothing was done in health sector. She said that the government would make legislation for the mother child health and family planning if it would be deemed necessary.
She said that some people are carrying out only gallery politics on the issue of lady health workers but they don’t understand that the matter could not be resolved with out allocating proper funds in the budget. PPP would give more
Employment to some three hundred thousands lady health workers.
On the occasion Dr Sulman Qazi and Amir Abbas Malangi also spoke on the occasion . During their speeches they threw light on the poor healthcare facilities that the people of interior Sindh is facing.
