Shahid becomes President Quetta Press Club

QUETTA: Senior journalist Saleem Shahid winning annual elections of Quetta Press Club held here on Wednesday has become president of the club for two years.
The elections of Quetta Press Club for 2011-13 were held in which two panels contested. According to results announced by chairman Elections Committee Nadir Ali Chhalgari Advocate, Balochistan Bureau Chief Dawn Saleem Shahid and Abdul Khaliq Rind of daily Jang Quetta were elected as president and general secretary respectively with big majority.
The other office bearers included Mr. Yaqoob Shahwani of daily Intikhab senior vice president, Mr. Jalal Khan Nourzai of Samaa TV vice president (unopposed), Arif Mehmood of Express TV senor joint secretary, Shah Muhammad of Associated Press of Pakistan joint secretary and Mr. Abdur Rasheed Butt of daily Bakhabar treasure (unopposed).
The eight candidates of this panel who were elected as member of the executive committee of Quetta Press Club included Shehzada Zulfiqar (Pakistan Today), Raza Rehman (Express TV), Irfan Saeed (Dunya TV), Muhammad Afzal Mughal (daily Mashriq), Salman Ashraf (Geo TV), Malik Suhail Kasi (Aaj TV), Din Muhammad (daily Jang Quetta), Naseem James (daily Express). Akbar Sheikh, Reporter English Service APP Quetta Bureau and other journalists felicitated newly elected President QPC and the General Secretary and their team.
It is recalled here that Mr. Saleem Shahid has worked with various leading international media organizations and his news reports on geo-political scenario of Afghanistan and Balochistan, a province of Pakistan have status of reference at international level.
