Bahria town car racing: SC orders to produce Atif Shaikh

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan ordering to produce Atif Shaikh the prime accused in Bahria town car racing which claimed five lives, before the court in next hearing said that no one could escape from grip of law.
According to media reports, two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted hearing of Bahria town car racing case here on Thursday. During the hearing SP Investigation Mubashar Ullah told the court that Atif Shaikh presented fake medical certificate in lower court and fled to Dubai.
According to a newspaper report Atif Shaikh had submit an application in Dubai court that he is being made target of political vengeance in Pakistan so he should not be sent back to Pakistan.
Mubashir Ullah further told the court that Atif Shaikh was arrested in Dubai on the request of Pakistani Interior ministry and he cannot be extradited back to Pakistan till decision of Dubai court and the process could take two to three weeks.
The court was further told that Security incharge Bahria town Colonel (Retd) Rafaqat has been arrested.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry during the course of the hearing remarked that a person against whom any legal action is taken he goes abroad and says that he is being politically victimized
CJP addressing SP Investigation said that now in this country no one could escape from grip of law.
CJ Iftikhar said that now when MNAs and MPAs are being arrested than no leniency would be exhibited in those case no matter how influential they are and the case is not minor as it claimed five precious lives.
The court adjourned the hearing till next four weeks and directed the lower court to carry on the hearings.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dubai High Court has cancelled red warrant of Shaikh Atif on 22 March and approved his bail plea while police wrongly told the court that Dubai court is proceeding against Atif Shaikh.
