ISLAMABAD: : In view of the rise in demand of electricity with the advent of summer, the federal government is mulling to once again bring in five working days a week to save energy.

According to details the matter of observing two weekly holidays is likely to be tabled in the next meeting of federal cabinet , which is going to be held next week. After the discussion, if it is approved in the cabinet , then it might be possible that the system of five working days during a week would be followed from 1st April.

The timings of government offices would be observed from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with one hour lunch and prayers break after implementation of two offs during a week , while on Friday the government servants would be given relaxation from 12:00 noon to 2:30 in the afternoon to offer their Friday prayers.

It is pertinent to mention here that last year the government also had decided to observe two weekly holidays during summer season to save the energy. But some two years back it took the decision to adopt sun light saving system in which clocks were adjusted according to the weather to save the energy.

  1. Irrespective of energy crisis, there should be permanent two holidays in a week as already practised in the western world. A government employee after having 2 days rest will work with full potential for 5 days. Practically, on Friday the offices only work for 2 to 3 hours. One can imagine how much enery and fuel is consumpted for work of 2 or 3 hours. If the government plans for weekly two days off, then the working hours may be extended thus balancing the total work hours a week. LIFE IS A HELL WITH 6 DAYS WORK A WEEK. We can make progress even working 5 days a week, the only thing is that the traders must reschedule their work for payment through bank within 5 days a week
