ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has announced remission of sentence in respect of the prisoners about age of 65 years on the eve of Pakistan day as per article 45 of the constitution.

President Asif Ali Zardari has announced special remission of sentence by 45 and 90 days on Pakistan day but it will not be applicable to those who are involved in the offences of murder, anti state activities, extremism, section 10 of Hudood ordinance 1979, dacoity and terrorism.

The entire sentence of those who have served two thirds of their conviction period will stand remitted.

Presidential order further said the sentence of the mothers who are in jail along with their minors has also been remitted by one year. The sentence of the children below the age of 18 years who have spent two thirds period of their jail term has been remitted fully.
