Nationwide strike against Davis release and drone strikes

RAWALPINDI: Various political and religious parties took out rallies nationwide after Friday prayers to protest against US gunman Raymond Davis release and drone strikes in the tribal areas of the country.

As per details the rallies and protests have been organised across the country, in which leaders of Pakistan Tehrik-I-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Shabab Islami Pakistan (SIP) and National Youth Foundation participated.

Addressing the angry demonstrators and rallies the leaders of various religious and political parties expressed their grave concern and demanded the PPP led government to resign over this shameful act of betraying the nation by releasing Davis and attacks on Tribal Areas.

Addressing to the rally of Madressah Taleem ul Quran Raja Bazar Rawalpindi, Secretary General JUI-F, Senator Ghafoor Haideri demanded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) that army should retaliate against the attacks on Pakistan’s tribal areas, therefore, despite of oral condemnation of strikes, drone planes should fire, if it does not happen, then strong sense of resentment against the army could spread. He criticized over the Federal and provincial government over the release of Raymond Davis, who was not involved in double murder case, but also spying of Pakistan.

Former Chief ISI, Lieutenant General (R) Hameed Gul said, “We should explore new horizons, in order to pave new ways of progress for the nation and to get rid from the present rulers”. The release of Raymond and drone strikes on Tribal Areas is equivalent to add insult on injury. Unfortunately, the role of provincial and federal government is zero at present. He also criticised over the judiciary and specifically on Supreme Court by not taking Suo Motto action over the Raymond issue.

Abdullah Gul Chairman National Youth Foundation and the son of Hameed Gul said, “ This is right time for the youth to get unite under one umbrella to save Pakistan”. Azam Khan Swati criticised over its role and said that it should retaliate against the drone strikes, the whole nation will be with Army. Vice Ameer JI Dr. Muhammad Kamal has said that the rulers have spoiled the dignity of Pakistan and the nation, so, this is time to get rid of them.

Former Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid and Qari Dr. Ateeq ur Rehman pointed out the flaws of the government and strongly condemned over drone strikes in Tribal Areas and the release of Davis, who was involved in double murder case.

Meanwhile, Chief of Pakistan Aman Party Haji Gulzar headed the protesting rally in front of Rawalpindi Press Club, in which hundreds workers participated and raised slogans against the government over the release of Raymond Davis and drone strikes. Addressing the rally at Dhamial Camp, Secretary General Wafaqul Madaris Pakistan Maulana Abdul Rasheed Qazi criticized government over release of Raymond Davis and drone attacks in tribal areas.
